Fantasy- What We Learned From Week One
by Paul Eide
Fantasy Football Director
9/16/09

AP is the Unquestioned #1 Overall Fantasy Player
After that 65 yard run are there any questions about if he is better than MJD or not? If there were, the 180 yard, three TD day answered those, too.

Say Sorry, Willis McGahee Non-Owners
I think you all owe Willis a heartfelt apology for your affair with Ray Rice. Willis knew the entire time; he just chose to be the bigger person about it. And come forth with a 19 point (in standard scoring leagues) 2 TD week for all those who doubted. LeRon McClain is the one who loses out ultimately, but he’ll still get the occasional 1 yard TD, further maddening Ray Rice owners. McGahee is the most versatile of the three inside the 10.

Earnest Graham is a Dead Man
Wow, look how a regime change just cripples certain players. One carry for one yard, with a long of one.

Cadillac Has Been Reborn
Insert stupid analogy about an engine being rebuilt here. 13 carries, 97 yards and a TD, Williams established himself as the #1 RB in Tampa….for now. Beware of the three headed monster, but Williams and Derrick Ward are the clear front runners. Tampa didn’t sign Ward to not use him, so be patient.

Kurt Warner Looks Old…Again…Still
Like the old New York Giant Kurt Warner; scared, uncertain, indecisive, like a good soldier caught in so many battles that when there is no battle he still thinks he’s in one. Tim Hightower put up half the receiving numbers he did from a year ago in this one game. Jerheme Urban scored more fantasy points than Anquan Boldin. Steve Breaston was a last minute scratch from the lineup. What gives, Arizona?

Steven Jackson is who This Site “Thought He Was”
Overrated and underproductive, Jackson did not post numbers befitting a #1 RB selection. Instead he put up the numbers that any person stuck in that offense would put up. Even if you put AP behind that line, with that QB and those WR, he would have a hard time producing. Its not all Steven Jackson’s fault, defenses are keying in on him like LJ in Kansas City. Jackson for me will forever be that really hot secretary at your company who flirts with you unceasingly, but then after making an advance at a company Christmas party in private, acts like she was really never that into you. Don’t deny me, Steven Jackson.

Greg Olsen Barely Scored More Points than Al Davis
Or any other dead man you can think of. And in non PPR or non fractal scoring leagues he probably sent you on your way with a healthy zero as well. Thanks Greg. Next week I’ll be sure to start Richard Pryor instead. Or Red Auerbach.

Jake Delhomme is Dead Inside
And on your fantasy roster. If they wouldn’t have given him that unnecessary contract extension in the off-season, he’d be fine. Instead he’s just like Marc Bulger; sucky but well paid. You know who really suffers in all of this? No, not his kids. No, his wife is fine she has a Lexus. STEVE SMITH.
