My Favorite 10 Players in the NFL Draft
By Michael Abromowitz, 3/25/06

This list is a group of 10 players who I would love to have on my team.  These players are not necessaily the best "rated" players, but players that I have enjoyed watching in college and expect to be great NFL players.

1.  Joe Klopfenstein, TE, Colorado.  I love this kid.  Nothing flashy, just great hands.  Because this draft is so deep with tight ends, some team will be able to steal Klopfenstein in either the late 2nd or early 3rd.

2.  Mike Kudla, DE/LB, Ohio State.  Do not worry, I do not look at combine numbers too much.  I know Kudla tied the weightlifting record, but I have loved him way before.  Kudla played DE at OSU, but in the NFL could be an awesome OLB in a 3-4 defense.  He is a monster, thats why some NFL team's fans will be yelling BarriKudla!

3.  D'Brickashaw Ferguson, OT, Virginia.  Yes, I know he is rated as a top 5 player, so I am taking the easy way out.  But Ferguson is not on here just for his athletic ability. Off the field this guy is just as impressive.  He will be a great role model and I expect by next year he will be on an United Way advertisement.

4.  Mike Hass, WR, Oregon State.  What did he do in college?  Only win the Biletnikoff.   Great, soft hands.  What makes me like him even more- he was a walk-on.  I am bias toward any story relating to Rudy.

5.  Elvis Dumervil, DE, Louisville.  Anybody who gets 20 sacks is impressive.  Who cares he is only 6 feet tall.  Also, anybody who gets stepped on by Marcus Vick gets my sympathy.

6.  Manny Lawson, DE/LB, NC State.   Is on my list on athletic ability alone.  In a 3-4 defense, Lawson could be a freak.  Imagine if you were a QB, facing a 6-6 OLB who can run the 40 in the 4.40s.  I would run for the showers.

7.   Garrett Mills, H-Back, Tulsa.  If you have not noticed yet, I like hybrids.  I love players that can play numerous positions.  Chris Cooley was a success last year as an H-Back, I expect Mills can be just as good, or ever better.

8.
Thomas Howard, OLB, UTEP.  Another walk-on story.  Howard has all the tools you want:  speed, size, and brains.   These Rudy stories really get to me.

9..
Max Jean-Gilles, OG, Georgia.  Why do I like him besides his name?  Because any team who drafts him, could put him on its OL and not have to worry about that position for the next 12 years. He is a complete stud.  Imagine, some team (Saints) could take Ferguson in the 1st round, and probably be able to take Jean-Gilles in the second round.  That is how you bolster an OL.

10.   Devin Hester, ATH, Miami.   I know this pick will probably get me the most criticism.   But this guy is an athlete.  He will be an NFL stud, I just do not know at what position.  At the very worst, Hester will become the next Dante Hall.

I hope you realized Hester was the only underclassmen in this group.  I like college graduates.
