NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Stephen Sene, OL, Liberty
by Michael Abromowitz, 4/18/08Former University of Virginia Assistant Coach Danny Rocco came to Liberty, a football program that had done very little in its existence and has since made it a powerhouse in the Big South Conference.  Much of his early success has to do with Rocco's successful recruiting and ability to get great D-1 transfers including Stephen Sene.  Sene who played his first two years at South Carolina was dominant on the offensive line.  He played tackle,, but actually may project best in the NFL at tackle.

I feel that there are many areas of my game that needs improvement, but that’s the beauty of this sport. There’s always room for improvement and each day gets me one step closer to becoming a better football player. .

TheFootballExpert.com:  What NFL player do you do you think you compare favorably to?

Stephen Sene:  I really don’t know. I’ve never been compared to anyone.

TheFootballExpert.com:  Who is the best player you have faced during your college football career?

Stephen Sene:  When I played for the University of South Carolina, the two best players I went against were David Pollack and Marcus Spears.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What is your greatest football moment to date?

Stephen Sene:  My greatest football moment would have to be winning the Big South Conference Championship last season.

TheFootballExpert.com:  Did you have a favorite pro team growing up?  Favorite player?

Stephen Sene:  My favorite team growing up was the Denver Broncos. It’s weird, being from South Carolina, I have no ties with Colorado. I just know that every Sunday my brother and I would be pulling for the Broncos. My favorite players were John Elway and Steve Atwater.

TheFootballExpert.com:  How instrumental was Coach Danny Rocco in your progression?

Stephen Sene:  Coach Rocco has played a huge role these past two years in my college career. He changed our program around and changed the entire mindset of each player here. His constant encouragement has allowed me to reach my fullest potential as a college football player.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What have former college teammates now in the NFL told you about preparing for the league?

Stephen Sene:  They have told me that the NFL is definitely a business. A lot of good players are competing for the same spot.  They told me that everyday is a constant battle to earn a spot on a team. You need to prepare yourself physically and mentally to get ready for the league.

TheFootballExpert.com:  When you get your first professional paycheck what is the first thing you will buy?

TheFootballExpert.com:  Do you have any goals in mind when it comes to the NFL Draft?

Stephen Sene:  The only goal that I have right now is to get into a camp. As far as the draft goes, I feel as though I have done my best to prepare myself for the league and the rest is in God’s hands.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What is the one thing you will most miss at college?

Stephen Sene:  There’s a lot that I’m going to miss about this school. I love this school for everything it stands for, but the people and the friendships made here are what I’ll miss the most..

Stephen Sene:  I really don’t have a pregame ritual. The only thing that I really do is pray…a lot.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What is something football fans may not know about you?

Stephen Sene:  I love games. Board games, video games, pretty much anything that has to do with taking score. I’m very competitive.
