Strengths: ery Solid height and weight. Athletic and quick for his size. Very tough and physical player. He uses his hands very effectively, shows good strength. Very strong run blocker. Plays with a nasty mentality. Looks often to pancake defenders whenever he can. Loves to finish blocks. Surprisingly quick and balanced for his size. He does a great job of staying low under the pads and keeps his feet moving. Is able to get to the second level. Shows good hustle. He is very quick at snapping the football when in shotgun and still getting his hands up fast. Is able to pull and trap. Very strong pass blocker as well. He uses his hands so well. Shows that he can set up a good base and he reacts well to rip, swim and bull rush moves. He has great awareness, is able to help out his linemen. Strong intangibles. Intelligent, made all the calls for the line at Florida. He has great experience (39 starts) against strong competition.

Weaknesses: Does not have elite speed. His overall strength can be improved (on 26 reps on the bench at the combine). Footwork technique needs improvement.

Summary: Maurkice Pouncey is an extremely well rounded player. He is tough, physical, and plays with a nasty streak. He is a very strong run blocker and can be an effective pass blocker. He has good intangibles and experience. There's not too much to dislike about Pouncey. He is a very polished player who is intelligent and talented. To simply put it, Pouncey is a player who I feel has the potential to play center or guard at the Pro Bowl level for a long time. There is a lot to like about him; there is no way he's making it out of the 1st round.
