Strengths: Good height. Above average hands. Uses his hands to catch the football. Shows very solid technique. Has good focus. Does a good job of working his way back to the QB when in trouble. Willing to go across the middle. Dangerous after the catch. Shows good strength and plays physical. Comes to the football when in the air. Very consistent route runner. Understands how to use his size to separate himself from corners. Playmaker.

Weaknesses: Does not have good top end speed. Needs to make big catches at key parts of the game. Needs to be able to win one on one matchups consistently. He had a lower leg fracture last season; which will bring up injury concerns. Needs to go through this season healthy.

Summary: Austin Pettis sure started off the season right on September 6th by catching the game-winning TD catch with 1:09 to go in the game. He ended the night with 6 catches for 73 yards and 2 TDs. He also blocked a punt. That's exactly what Pettis needs to do his senior season. He needs to prove that he can stay healthy for his senior year and that he can still produce against elite competition. That's what I am going to be watching this season. Boise St. is officially an elite football program and they will be tested this year. Pettis needs to be a playmaker for the Bronco offense. I think that if Pettis can have a solid year, he has a legitimate shot at getting into the 1st round this April.

Draft Projection: 2nd round
