A Long Time Raven Develops into a Lion

4/6/07.  Edwin Mulitalo, Offensive Guard, has signed a three-year contract with the Detroit Lions after playing for the Baltimore Ravens since 1999.  Mulitalo will be making his first career change and says, “I look at this as an opportunity for my family and I. I think I can help be a part of another strong offensive line and hopefully teach them a trick or two.”

Since being selected in the 4th round from Arizona University, Edwin has certainly left a warpath of playing skills and talents in Baltimore.  Not only have these skills been played on the field but have also been used to form his foundation, Big Ed’s Band.  Because of Ed’s deep love for music, BEB helps provide musical instruments and repairs to many Baltimore area schools.  Throughout the years, most Ravens fans got to check out Mulitalo from the seats in MT&T Stadium, but they also had several opportunities at the infamous Luau that Edwin and his foundation hosted every year.  Big Ed’s Luau was a popular fan-based event that showcased many of Mulitalo’s Polynesian family members performing traditional war and fire dances.

According to the foundation director and longtime friend, Miles Goodman, “Ed is a great player and its exciting to see #64 still on the field. Ed is and will continue to be an integral part of the Baltimore community.  We look forward to continuing Big Ed's Foundation and continuing to give the gift of music to children."

“Edwin is thrilled to be able to continue to play in the NFL and looks forward to the team, the teammates, the coaches and the fans that await him in Detroit,” says agent, Scott Smith of X-A-M Sports, “I have a strong feeling that Ed will soon find another family in Detroit as he did in Baltimore.”
