It has been a crazy college football season so far.  It’s sad that it is coming to an end soon.  Throughout the season I have been watching as much tape as I could and here are some names that have stood out on film to me.  They are in no particular order.  Thanks for reading and like always feel free to email me any questions.  clint@thefootballexpert.com

Tharold Simon, CB, LSU
He’s a junior corner who took over a starting role when Morris Claiborne went to the NFL.  He’s a big prospect standing at 6’2, has good quickness and looks like a leader in the LSU secondary.  I have watched a lot of LSU defense tape and while I was watching Mingo, Reid, and Minter I kept noticing Simon.  I would really like to go back and watch more tape on him to give him a proper draft prediction but from what I have seen of him he looks like a 3rd round pick.  Although, since he’s just a junior, staying in school for his senior year could benefit him and improve his draft stock.

Shamarko Thomas, S/CB, Syracuse
Shamarko is quickly becoming one of my favorite players in the country.  He has a remarkable story; way too long for this short clip about him, but basically he has started since he was a true freshman and during the offseason before his sophomore year his dad was killed in a motorcycle accident.  Nine months later his mother passed away.  Now a senior, he plays to their memory.  On the field he is a lighting quick defensive back that is a violent hitter.  I have watched a lot of tape on him and I could see him going anywhere from the 2nd to the 4th round in this draft.

Mike Gillislee, RB, Florida
Gillislee looks like a complete back to me.  He’s explosive, fast, powerful, good receiver out of the backfield and can block.  He stood out to me immediately on film.  He’s also a patient runner who has good vision.  He looks like a 2nd round pick.

Stepfan Taylor, RB, Stanford
Along with Gillislee, Taylor has been very good this year.  I haven’t watched as much tape on him as I would like so far, but what I have seen has been impressive.  He’s tough, strong, and has pretty good speed.  He, like Gillislee could be a 2nd round pick too.

Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M and Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M
Joeckel and Matthews have been amazing this season for Texas A&M.  I believe they headline one of the best, if not the best offensive line in football.  They both are excellent pass
blockers and show great technique.  Joeckel looks like a top 10 pick while Matthews looks like a strong first round pick.

Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida St.
Everybody knows this guy.  His stock has soared this season and he earns it.  Werner is a beast.  He’s strong, has long arms and displays great football IQ and awareness.  I have been very impressed with him all year.  He will be a top 10 pick this April.
