1.
Oakland Raiders- Jamarcus Russell, QB, LSU…..It’s been quite some time
since the Raiders have had an offensive weapon to write home
about. Jamarcus has the size and ability to make a huge impact in
this offense, and possibly resurrect the career of Randy Moss.
2. Detroit Lions-Joe Thomas, OT, Wisconsin…..Even
though Calvin Johnson is the top player on the board overall, the Lions
have no luck selecting WR’s in the first round, and need to sure up the
areas that can protect their offensive weapons.
3. Cleveland Browns- Adrian Peterson, RB,
Oklahoma…..Peterson is hard to pass on in this spot for the Browns, as
the Browns are in need of an offensive weapon of his caliber.
Peterson could possibly be a Pro Bowl player in his rookie season (I
know big expectations).
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers- Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia
Tech…..Johnson will not slip past this spot in the draft. The
most talented player in this draft will be a Buccaneer.
5. Arizona Cardinals- Gaines Adams, DE,
Clemson…..With the Cardinals needing help on the offensive line, there
isn’t much there with Thomas off the board. This will force the
Cardinals to look to solidify their defensive front. Adams is an
athletic DE, and will be a force for the Cardinals.
6. Washington Redskins- Jamaal Anderson, DE,
Arkansas…..The Redskins could look in a couple different areas here,
but ultimately, the defensive side of the ball only makes sense.
Jamaal Anderson is an athletic DE, with still tons of potential, and
should instantly make an impact on a depleting Redskin’s defense.
7. Minnesota Vikings- Dwayne Jarrett, WR, USC…..The
Vikings are in desperate need of a playmaker for Tavaris Jackson.
Williamson has not worked out yet, and the Vikes need to redeem
themselves by taking the second best WR on the board.
8. Houston Texans- Brady Quinn, QB, Notre Dame…..This
is the shocker of the draft, as Quinn slips to the 8th spot, and with
David Carr on the way out, the Texans will try again to build a QB from
the ground up.
9. Miami Dolphins- Ted Ginn, Jr, WR, Ohio State…..As
much as the Dolphins need help on an aging defensive line, they also
need a playmaking WR, opposite Chamber.
10. Atlanta Falcons- Reggie Nelson, S, Florida……..The
Falcons are in need of a playmaker on defense, and no one can throw the
total package at you like Reggie Nelson.
11. San Francisco 49ers- Alan Branch, DT,
Michigan…..The 49ers are in need of a solid defensive line, and what
better way to fill that gap than with the top DT on the board.
12. Buffalo Bills- Levi Brown, OT, Penn
State…….Buffalo struggled to get Willis going last year, and will need
to create more running lanes for him, drafting Brown could be their
golden ticket.
13. St Louis Rams- Lawrence Timmons, OLB, Florida
State……With the Rams needing a strong pass rusher, and a young gun to
be the face of their defense, they will look to Timmons to do just that.
14. Carolina Panthers- Patrick Willis, LB, Ole Miss.
…..The panthers are in need of a strong force in the middle of their
defense. What better way to fill that gap than by taking the best
kept secret in the draft, and quite possibly the hardest hitting LB we
have seen since Ray Lewis.
15. Pittsburgh Steelers- Leon Hall, CB,
Michigan…..Pittsburgh is in need of a good cover corner, and will
select the best the 2007 class has to offer.
16. Green Bay Packers- Marshawn Lynch, RB,
California…..RB is the obvious choice here. Green’s future with
the Packers is in doubt.
17. Jacksonville Jaguars- Paul Poluszny, OLB, Penn
State…..The Jags are in need of an OLB, and Poluszny is their man at
this point in the draft with Timmons being of the board.
18. Cincinnati Bengals- Darrelle Revis, CB,
Pittsburgh…..The Bengals are one of the worst when it comes to stopping
other teams passing attack, and will be looking to add some youth and
talent to the defensive backfield.
19. Tennessee Titans- Sidney Rice, WR, South
Carolina…..With Bennett on the FA market, the Titans will need to get
Vince a go to guy, and will look to make the athletic Rice his man.
20. New York Giants- Jon Beason, OLB, Miami…..With
the Giants sending Arrington packing, they will be looking to fill that
gaping hole with some young talent. Beason is an athletic OLB
that will be asked to put some pressure on the QB.
21. Denver Broncos- Amobi Okoye, DT,
Louisville…..Yes, it’s hard to believe that a talented young DT like
Okoye would slip this far down the board, but Shanahan won’t be
complaining anytime soon, as he plays right into their hands.
22. Dallas Cowboys- Dwayne Bowe, WR, LSU….Terry Glenn
is not getting any younger and Bowe adds a big target for Romo.
23. Kansas City Chiefs- Robert Meacham, WR,
Tennessee…..KC is still yet to find that go to guy at WR, and will look
to do just that, by taking a talented young WR in Meacham.
24. New England Patriots- Brandon Siler, LB,
Florida…..The Patriots are aging at LB, and will look to add a bit of
youth to their corp. with Siler. Oh, and whom better to take him,
than Belichick, that seems to love Gators.
25. New York Jets- Daymieon Hughes, CB,
California…..The Jets are lacking a playmaker on the corners of their
defense, and will look to the talented Hughes to help this unit out.
26. Philadelphia Eagles- Jarvis Moss, DE,
Florida…..The Eagles love to take guys that are aggressive, and attack
on defense, and who better to select here than a guy that could quickly
move even further up the board in Moss.
27. New Orleans Saints- LaRon Landry, S, New
Orleans….The Saints are in need a savior to stop opposing teams air
attacks, which seemed to be a problem for them this year. Landry
will be the support they need.
28. New England Patriots- Michael Griffin, S,
Texas…..New England will continue to look to inject some youth to their
defense, by adding a fantastic safety in Griffin.
29. Baltimore Ravens- Michael Bush, RB,
Louisville…..Baltimore will take a chance on the injury of Bush, and
should be pleased with the results. Bush is an extremely talented
RB that will make an instant impact, if he stays healthy.
30. San Diego Chargers- Anthony Gonzalez, WR, Ohio
State…..its no secret what this teams lacks on offense (not much
though), and will take Gonzalez, probably never going to be a true one
WR, but a great possessive receiver.
31. Chicago Bears- Joe Staley, OT, Central
Michigan…..The Bears tagged Briggs, and their D really has no holes,
it’s the offense that needs work. They will look to get Grossman,
or whomever the bears QB will be next year, some protection.
32. Indianapolis Colts- Buster Davis, LB, Florida
State……It is no secret that the Colts struggled to stop the run in the
regular season, and they finally came together in the post
season. That will not stop Dungy from looking to solidify that
middle, especially with June maybe out via free agency
