Strengths: Great size.  Very physical in both coverage and run support.  Very physical at the line of scrimmage; uses his hands well.  Very solid tackler.  Has a good back peddle and stays low to the ground.  Terrific reaction time.  Has fluid and quick hips.  Very impressive man to man coverage.  Great awareness; keeps eyes on the QB and is able to read where the football is going.   Shows good football I.Q.  Able to recognize plays and react aggressively.  Looks to strip the ball often.  Shows true athleticism.  I like the improvement I saw from last year to this year.

Weaknesses:  Overly aggressive a lot of the times which results in penalties.  Needs to shed blocks better.  Zone coverage needs to improve.  I saw him look a little lost at times.  Suffered a season ending hand injury in 09 and suffered a minor knee injury in 11.

Summary:  Xavier Rhodes is a big and physical CB that will appeal to all 32 NFL teams.  He’s extremely athletic despite being a big CB and excels at man to man coverage.  He’s effective in run support and shows great ability to read the QB’s eyes when in coverage.  My main concern with him though is that he’s over-aggressive a bit too much at times.  I think there are some minor footwork problems that need improvement (he gets caught flat footed at times) and I am not sure on his overall speed either.  Rhodes is a talented prospect though; he has terrific size and coverage skills that are rare.  He won’t be on the board long on draft day.  I have a late 1st round grade on him.
