div class="mockpick">17. NE: Aldon Smith, DE/OLB, Missouri
The Patriots will be looking to upgrade various positions in the defensive side of the football this offseason. They need more youth at the DE and OLB positions. Aldon Smith is a young DE who has all the potential in the world. He is incredibly quick and fast and he won't fall too much further than this.
18. SD: Cameron Jordan, DE/DT, California
The Chargers need an edge rusher; Larry English hasn't worked out, Merriman is gone, they need help. OT is another position of need but they may decide to address the DE position. Jordan is aterrific prospect that is a lock to go in the top 20. Cesaire is a FA and he probably won't be resigned because he isn't that good; they could use an upgrade.Jordan would be an immediate improvement.
19. NYG: Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College
The Giants will definitely be looking for a future LT in this draft. They could use some good, young, offensive linemen. Castonzo is one of the top 2 OT prospects in this draft and he could go much higher then this. He has terrific work ethic and experience. He could be the future LT in New York.
20. TB: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson
The Bucs need help at the DE position. Bowers was a Top 10 pick who should be long gone by this pick, but because of injury concerns he could still be here. Bowers is an elite talent at the DE position. He is extremely fast and quick; he has a ton of potential.
21. KC: Nate Solder, OT, Colorado
Kansas City needs more help at the rush OLB position. However, I have heard that they love Solder. Some teams have Solder as their best OT prospect; if Solder is still on the board, I believe he will be the pick here.
22. IND: Gabe Carimi, OT, Wisconsin
Indianapolis will not make the same mistake twice. The opted not to take Rodger Saffold last year and he has been great for St. Louis. They instead took Jerry Hughes who has played a very limited role in their defense, leaving their offensive line in shambles. Peyton Manning is one of the greatest QBs of all time; we really are privileged to be able to watch him play year after year, but if you're in charge of drafting for the Colts, there comes a time when you have to look out for the interests of your MVP. You need to protect Manning; he can't do it by himself forever. That has to be their number 1 goal this off season.
23. PHI: Jimmy Smith, CB, Colorado
The Eagles need to address their offensive line and the CB position this offseason. Across from Samuel the Eagles really don't have anything special. I have had Smith mocked here for a while now because I really think that he has the best shot at being the pick here. Smith is a big and physical CB that can shut down receivers. He has looked great at the Combine and he even ran a spectacular 4.38 in the 40. That is really impressive at his size. The Eagles need to address the CB position on their team and I believe they can get better value at the CB position here than at the offensive line position.
24. NO: Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois
The Saints will be looking for another DT in this year's draft. Liuget is one of the most productive DT's in this draft. He is very strong against the run and he can also get after the passer. He will work well next to Sedrick Ellis.
25. SEA: Andy Dalton, QB, TCU
Seattle's offensive line needs some attention; Raheem Brock and Brandon Mebane are set to be FAs, their secondary needs more youth, to put it simply, the Seahawks have a lot of issues to work out this offseason. To add to these concerns, they are not set at all on the QB position. Hasselbeck is a FA; do they believe fully in Whitehurst? Andy Dalton isn't an elite QB prospect but he has QB smarts and accuracy. He has a good shot at being picked in the first round.
26. BAL: Cameron Heyward, DE/DT, Ohio St.
Cameron Heyward would have been a Top 15 pick last year if he would have declared. He came back for his senior season though, and didn't have the type of season that most people expected. However, Heyward is still a first round draft pick and he could be the pick here. The Ravens need help at the DE position in their 3-4 defense, so this pick would make sense. Muhammad Wilkerson will be considered here as well.
27. ATL: Kyle Rudolph, TE, Notre Dame
Both of Atlanta's starting guards (Justin Blalock and Harvey Dahl) are FA's. So, with that being said, Danny Watkins is a very strong choice here. However, there are rumors that if the Falcons can't trade up for either Julio Jones or AJ Green they will try to take Rudolph. Rudolph has first round talent but if he doesn't get picked here he could slide into the second round
28. NE: Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama
Mark Ingram will probably not fall out of the first round. He is just too talented. If he is here at pick 28, the Patriots could snatch him up. This isn't a huge need for the Patriots, but they need a bruiser RB to compliment Woodhead and Green-Ellis. Ingram is a stud RB who has great value.
29. CHI: Marvin Austin, DT, North Carolina
The Bears could use help at DT, OT, and WR. Marvin Austin is a strong DT who is surprisingly quick for his size. There was some concern with him missing all of last year due to an NCAA suspension but he has enjoyed a great off season. This pick may be a surprise to some people with Derek Sherrod still on the board, but I think that The Bears could surprise some people and look to upgrade their offensive line later on in this draft.
30. NYJ: Phil Taylor, DT, Baylor
If Phil Taylor is available, he will go here; there are reports that the Jets love him. That pick would make sense too; they need some youth at that position
31. PIT: Danny Watkins, G, Baylor
The Steelers have issues along the offensive line. They also have issues at CB. Danny Watkins is a pro ready offensive lineman who would be an immediate for the Steelers. He has a great value here too.
32. GB: Muhammad Wilkerson, DE/DT, Temple
Green Bay is coming off an unbelievable season. They do not have a ton of needs but they could use a DE upgrade. Wilkerson has first round talent and he projects well into the 3-4 defensive scheme. He will go somewhere between picks 19 to 32.
