By Michael Abromowitz, 11/27/07. For most people Jackson State is inseparable with the
legendary Walter Payton. Payton played
his college at the SWAC school, but he is far from the only talent to
come out
of Jackson, MS. Hall of
Famers Lem Barney and Jackie Slater played their ball there, and more
recently
Jimmy Smith, Corey Bradford, and Cletis Gordon, currently with the
Chargers. Offensive lineman Lorenzo
Breland could be the next Tiger to play in the NFL.
Breland has the strength and
size to play in
the NFL, but he also has the brains. He
has the top GPA on the JSU team and is a recipient of the Presidential
Academic
Excellence Honor at JSU. Breland looks
to be an NFL center, where his smarts will come in handy.
