Cam Johnson is a versatile defensive end that made a name for
himself after a strong Senior Bowl week. He’s also got good
size and skill that he showcased at the combine. His stock
has been on the rise.
TFE: What is your accurate
height, weight and 40 time? Johnson: 6’4 268 4.75
TFE: Describe your game
in three words or less. Johnson: Versatile and
explosive
TFE: What do you feel is
your greatest strength as a football player and what area do you
feel you need to improve in? Johnson: One of my
greatest strengths is my versatility; able to play in space or
with my hand in the dirt and trenches. An area where I want
to improve in is being able to use my hands better to shed blocks.
TFE: What is your greatest
football moment to date? Johnson: When we played
Florida St. this year. It was a close game and we came out
on top.
TFE: Did you have a
favorite pro team growing up? Johnson: The Redskins
TFE: How instrumental was
coach London and coach Reid in your progression? Johnson: They kept me
improving, kept me going.
TFE: What have former
college teammates now in the NFL told you about preparing for the
league? Johnson: Eugene Monroe
and Clint Sintim just told me to keep improving.
TFE: What was the most
important thing you feel like you learned from your experience at
the Senior Bowl? Johnson: Just to
keep playing in different situations with different teammates;
keep competing.
TFE: What was your
favorite part of the combine? Johnson: The drills; you
go through school watching all your friends/teammates doing it and
finally it’s your turn.
TFE: Was the
combine what you thought it would be like? Johnson: No it was
different, more than just drills and tests; it’s a lot more than
drills.
TFE: Do you have any
goals in mind when it comes to the NFL Draft? Johnson: No, I just
want to contribute to a team as quickly as possible and be one of
the best DE/OLB in the NFL.
TFE: What is the one
thing you will most miss at college? Johnson: The
brotherhood, guys you hang out with all the time; I am going to
miss playing with them.
TFE: When you get your
first professional paycheck what is the first thing you will buy? Johnson: Something
for my parents; after that, it’s right back to work.
TFE: Any pregame rituals?
Food? Music? Johnson: I just
listen to music.
TFE: Do you read mock
drafts or listen to what draft experts have to say? Johnson: I took advice
from guys that have been there before, stay the course, don’t
worry about it.
