2008 Fantasy Football Quarterback Rankings
by Paul Eide
Fantasy Football Director
9/2/08

1. Tom Brady- 50 passing TD in 2008 leaves no doubt here.
2. Peyton Manning- Averages 4,162 yards and 29 TD per season over 10 years.
3. Tony Romo- 36 passing TD in 2008 was 2nd most in NFL.
4. Drew Brees- 8,841 passing yards and 54 TD last two seasons.
5. Carson Palmer- Still has TJ and CJ and will be productive w/o C Henry.
6. Ben Roethlisberger- Give OC Arians credit for 34 total TD in ’08.
7. Derek Anderson- Cinderella ’08 should continue thanks to offensive additions.
8. Brett Favre- The missing piece. Cotchery and Coles must be ecstatic.
9. Matt Hasselback- Coming off career highs in yards and TD.
10. Eli Manning- Can Eli prove that the ’07 playoffs is the new trend?
11. Donovan McNabb- 2 years since ACL surgery; last played 16 games ’03.
12. Marc Bulger- Looked completely lost in first preseason game.
13. David Garrard- New WR’s Porter and Williamson make Jags more explosive.
14. Jake Delhomme- 07: Had 8 TD in 3 games. Will increase w/Hackett and Muhammed
15. Jon Kitna- No matter how many passing yards, a turnover machine; 26 in ’07.
16. Jay Cutler- Needs weapons outside of B. Marshall; Does D Jax have anything left?
17. Matt Schaub- Injury shortened ’07. 8 games w/22+ attempts averaged 263 & 1TD.
18. Philip Rivers- ACL looked fine in preseason opener. Starter on possibly #1 offense.
19. Aaron Rodgers- Receiving corps is solid.
20. Jason Campbell- ‘Skins draft did everything they could for him. No more excuses.
21. Vince Young- Vast potential and ability w/legs puts him here. No WR at all.
22. Matt Leinart- Despite broken collarbone and Warner’s big year, is the starter.
23. Kurt Warner- Best season since 2001 is rewarded w/guaranteed backup role.
24. Jeff Garcia- An efficient QB in real life. Efficiency doesn’t do much in Fantasy.
25. JaMarcus Russell- Solid targets with Walker, Curry, Carter & Miller. Undervalued.
26. Chad Pennington- New start is exactly what he needed. .
27. Brodie Croyle- Averaged 200 yards and a TD in six starts. Seemed to be progressing.
28. Trent Edwards- With no receiving corps, really only a “Game Manager.”
29. Kyle Orton- Will be starting QB, but has no one to throw to outside TE’s.
30. Chris Redman- Dec ’07: Averaged 214 passing yards and 2 TD per game.
31. Tarvaris Jackson- It’s only a matter of time before he is converted to WR.
32. Sage Rosenfels- Had 16 total TD as a backup last season.
33. Matt Ryan- Never depend on a rookie QB. However, could start at some point.
34. JT O’Sullivan- Yes it’s come to this, Niner fans.
35. JP Losman- Shorter version of Trent Edwards. And older.
36. Rex Grossman - Will start the season backing up Orton. No wide receivers or O-line.
37. Alex Smith- Can Mike Martz resurrect his career? I don’t think so.
38. Shaun Hill- In 3 starts, looked to be everything Niners though Smith would be.
39. Kyle Boller- New regime will either force production or create next Joey Harrington.
40. Troy Smith- Former Heisman winner may be least mistake prone of all three.
