Fantasy Mailbag - To Trade or Not to Trade?
by Paul Eide

Hey Paul,

I am in my PPR league...In a QB/WR/WR/RB/RB/WR or RB format...My starters are: Cutler/Wayne/Welker/MJD/Rice/V.Jax with Run DMC, Nicks, Charles, and Hester on the Bench...I have just been offered TO & Lynch for V.Jax - what do you think??? In week 7 Rice and MJD have a bye.....

Thank you

Jason Kay

Hey Jason!

Excellent lineup especially for a PPR league. Now that Welker is back you should be looking pretty good. The question is, how much do you like the Bills' offense? But the other glaring issue is obviously the RB position with the bye nipping at your heels a week away and McFadden still injured for at least that long. Obviously you wouldn’t want to start Charles because the Chiefs offense as a whole is so inconsistent and you just can’t count on him to be involved every week. Look at his game log-every other week he has posted a zero, so you cannot rely on him.

I make the trade because of the emergence of Hakeem Nicks, which makes Vincent Jackson expendable. Nicks is the Giants WR of the future and is the perfect redzone target for Manning, and a nice compliment to Steve Smith. With 2 TUDS in two weeks, he is really beginning to look like the player he was at North Carolina a year ago.

TO is not the guy he has been historically, but he has been severely limited thanks to Trent Edwards overall inability to get the ball deep and Buffalo's run first approach. The big rumor today is that a TO trade is in the works, which only helps his value especially if he goes to Chicago or any city with a big armed QB. Even if he stays in Buffalo, he would essentially be your 4th or at best 3rd WR. But if you trade for Marshawn, you would never need to start more than 2 WR.

Marshawn Lynch is obviously the workhorse for the Bills and has carried that team on his back at certain points in his young career. Fred Jackson will always be looming in the background, but not as significantly as was initially feared. And because the Bills passing attack has been so wretched, the Bills will look to feed Lynch as much as possible to keep games close. Also, he catches a lot of passes with 11 thru two games this year and 47 a year ago.

After writing this, Id make the trade without hesitation. Are there any decent RB's on your waiver wire in case McFadden takes longer to heal than anticipated?

I’d make this trade ASAP!
