1. Oakland Raiders-Jamarcus
Russell-QB-LSU-Looking more and more like the guy that the
Raiders will take. Keep an eye out on Russell’s workouts as well
and see if he can hold on to this top spot with the Raiders.
2.
Detroit Lions-Gaines Adams-DE-Clemson-Taking Quinn here becomes
less of a reality as time goes on and bulking up their defense could be
the Lion’s top priority. Adams would be worth the pick and would
help to improve this defense drastically.
3.
Cleveland Browns-Brady Quinn-QB-Notre Dame-If Quinn passes
Oakland and Detroit, the Browns would be crazy to pass him up.
Charlie Frye has shown flashes of some solid ability but isn’t quite
the quarterback the Browns needs to be starting. Quinn could come
in and help bring this team up in a hurry.
4.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers-Calvin Johnson-WR-Georgia Tech-With no
clear cut top of the line wide receiver on the team, it would be
beneficial to the Buccaneers if they took Johnson here with the number
four pick in the draft to help improve their offense and get back on
track.
5.
Arizona Cardinals-Alan Branch-DT-Michigan-It would be hard for
the Cardinals to pass up on Branch and they could use his help.
Branch, with his incredible size would add a dimension the Cardinals
haven’t seen on defense and give them someone they could build around.
6.
Washington Redskins-Amobi Okoye-DT-Louisville-The Redskins will
need to improve the overall performance of their defensive line and
although Okoye may not be ranked to go this high, with good workouts
and a solid combine, his stock should only rise.
7.
Minnesota Vikings-Dwayne Jarrett-WR-USC-The Vikings haven’t been
the same since Randy Moss left, lacking the big play receiver to
stretch the field and make touchdowns. With Jarrett, they could
easily do this and help improve their offense.
8.
Houston Texans-Joe Thomas-OT-Wisconsin-The Texans need to find
ways to protect their quarterback and grabbing Thomas here would be a
big move. Another possibility is Adrian Peterson if he is still
available.
9.
Miami Dolphins-Darrelle Revis-CB-Pittsburgh-The Dolphins need to
find themselves a cornerback who can shut down opposing
receivers. A big play corner was a position they were hurting at
last year and need help there in 2007.
10.
Atlanta Falcons-LaRon Landry-S-LSU-The Falcons had some issues
with their pass defense last season and also have age issues in the
secondary. Landry would be a good fit for the Falcons and could
step in to start right away.
11.
San Francisco 49ers-Ted Ginn Jr.-WR-Ohio State-The 49ers are
well on their way to becoming a contender once again and are just a few
pieces away. Ginn would allow Alex Smith to make more plays down
field and give opposing defenses something more to worry about other
than Frank Gore.
12.
Buffalo Bills-Levi Brown-OT-Penn State-The Bills are coming
closer to being a real contender in their division and adding a starter
on the offensive line is a must. This would help open up running
lanes for Willis McGahee as well as keep J.P. Losman well protected.
13.
St. Louis Rams-Leon Hall-CB-Michigan-The Rams could use some
serious help on defense and adding Hall would be a step in the right
direction. He can help them out in their pass defense and cover
receivers very well.
14.
Carolina Panthers-Patrick Willis-LB-Ole Miss-The Panthers have a
stout defense but they lack a real punch at the linebacker position
thanks to age and injury. Willis would be a huge addition to the
Panthers defense.
15.
Pittsburgh Steelers-Justin Blalock-OG-Texas-Blalock can play
either guard or tackle and this would help give the Steelers offensive
line, which is suffering from age issues, a boost.
|
16.
Green Bay Packers-Adrian Peterson-RB-Oklahoma-Peterson may not
make it this far but with injury issues still a concern he might fall
to 16 where the Packers can take him and use him to start replacing
Ahman Green.
17.
Jacksonville Jaguars-Jamaal Anderson-DE-Arkansas-The Jaguars are
in need of some improvement in their pass rush and Anderson would be a
step in the right direction to do that. He has great athletic
ability and would be an asset on the Jaguars defense.
18.
Cincinnati Bengals-Reggie Nelson-S-Florida-The Bengals need
someone who can sit in the backfield and help in coverage as well as
help in run support. He would be an instant improvement to their
defense.
19.
Tennessee Titans-Paul Posluszny-LB-Penn State-The Titans could
also use a wide receiver if one is available but if not, upgrading at
the linebacker position would be a great idea. Posluszny would be
fine fit here and would help improve their defense overall.
20.
N.Y. Giants-Marshawn Lynch-RB-California-With the retirement of
Tiki Barber, the Giants will be looking for a new franchise running
back. If Lynch is here they should pick him up with this pick and
start to rebuild their running game.
21.
Denver Broncos-Adam Carriker-DE-Nebraska-The Broncos could go
for a cornerback here to replace the late Darrent Williams but for the
value and to help their pass rush, they should take a long look at
Carriker.
22.
Dallas Cowboys-Quinn Pitcock-DT-Ohio State-The Cowboys are
pretty solid at the defensive end position but could use some help at
the tackle position and Pitcock could be just what the doctor ordered
for their defense.
23.
Kansas City Chiefs-Demarcus Tyler-DT-North Carolina State-The
Chiefs defense improved last season but still needs some help.
With good defensive ends in place, the Chiefs should work on the
interior of the line and Tyler would be a good fit there.
24.
New England Patriots-Daymeion Hughes-CB-California-The Patriots
have had issues at the cornerback position for a couple seasons now and
so shoring it up now would help work wonders for their defense.
25.
New York Jets-Marcus McCauley-CB-Fresno State-The Jets are on
their way up but need a few key pieces to help get them there and help
them stay on top. Shoring up their pass defense, particularly in
the secondary, would benefit them greatly and help them get to where
they want to be.
26.
Philadelphia Eagles-Sidney Rice-WR-South Carolina-The Eagles
could go a couple different ways here either by taking a linebacker or
a defensive lineman. However, the Eagles really need a wide
receiver and should take Rice here with this pick.
27.
New Orleans Saints-Lawrence Timmons-OLB-Florida State-The Saints
defense managed to play fairly well despite the fact their linebackers
weren’t that strong. Adding some help at this position would do
wonders for their defense and help them to continue down the path that
they are going down.
28.
New England Patriots-Michael Griffin-S-Texas-The Patriots should
use their second pick in the first round to help keep improving their
secondary. A good safety, who can team up with all star Rodney
Harrison would be great for their defense.
29.
Baltimore Ravens-Jarvis Moss-DE/OLB-Florida-With the possibility
that their star Adalius Thomas might leave in free agency, the Ravens
may want to take a long look at Moss. Moss is a great athlete and
would be a good fit on this team.
30.
San Diego Chargers-Robert Meacham-WR-Tennessee-The Chargers
found out last season that not having a wide receiver with good hands
and great speed can cost you. Picking up a wide receiver in the
first round would help put their offense on the right track and give
them an added weapon they need.
31.
Indianapolis Colts-Quentin Moses-DE-Georgia-It is possible that
Dwight Freeney may leave via free agency so the Colts may want to take
a look at replacing him in the draft this spring. Moses would be
a good fit and could help them out greatly in their pass rush.
32.
Chicago Bears-LaMar Woodley-DE/OLB-Michigan-If OLB Lance Briggs
leaves via free agency the Bears will have to find a suitable
replacement for him so that they don’t miss anything on defense.
Woodley should be a good fit and give the Bears what they need if they
have to replace Briggs.
