Cory BoydNFL Draft Prospect Interview: Cory Boyd, RB, South Carolina
by Michael Abromowitz, 4/14/08Running back may be one of the deepest positions in the draft, and one guy who is quickly moving up the draft boards is Cory Boyd.  For a guy of Boyd's frame he is very quick and can be a double threat as a receiver where he caught 117 receptions during his career at South Carolina.  He finished his career with 2,267 rushing yards and 28 total touchdowns.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What is your accurate height, weight and forty time?

Cory Boyd:  6'1, 218, 4.51

TheFootballExpert.com:  Describe your game in three words or less.

Cory Boyd:  Powerful, determined, smooth.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What do you feel is your greatest strength as a football player and what area do you feel you need to improve in?

Cory Boyd:  I believe that my vision and my ability to catch the ball out the backfield is my best strengths. I know for a fact that as a whole I need to get better in my all around game.     

TheFootballExpert.com:  What NFL player do you do you think you compare favorably to? 

Cory Boyd:  No one because my style is original and cannot be compared.

TheFootballExpert.com:  Who is the best player you have faced during your college football career?

Cory Boyd:  The best player had to be Glenn Dorsey.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What is your greatest football moment to date?

Cory Boyd:  My greatest football moment was my first 100 yd game in college.

TheFootballExpert.com:  Did you have a favorite pro team growing up?  Favorite player?

Cory Boyd:  No, I never had a favorite pro team but I did/ do love to watch Barry Sanders.


TheFootballExpert.com:  How instrumental was Coach Spurrier in your progression?

Cory Boyd:  Coach Spurrier was very instrumental in my progression because he helped me realize the importance of ceasing every opportunity you have. 

TheFootballExpert.com:  What have former college teammates now in the NFL told you about preparing for the league? 

Cory Boyd:  That’s funny because no one has said anything that would shock me. They said that its still the same game but now you will get paid for playing.  They already knew about my work ethic so all they told me was to keep doing what I always do.

TheFootballExpert.com:  When you get your first professional paycheck what is the first thing you will buy?

Cory Boyd:  I really want to get a house so that my grandmother can move out the projects.

TheFootballExpert.com:  How will you be preparing for the NFL Draft?

Cory Boyd:  I know that will continue to work out and keep my mind clear of any negative things. Plus I will take a trip to L.A for the Draft.

TheFootballExpert.com:  Do you have any goals in mind when it comes to the NFL Draft?

Cory Boyd:  I wouldn’t say goals but I would say that I am grateful that I will be able to have a chance to see my name mentioned in the NFL Draft

TheFootballExpert.com:  What is the one thing you will most miss at college?

Cory Boyd:  I will miss the fans, coaches, teammates, and all the friends.

TheFootballExpert.com:  Where is the best place to get a bite to eat in Columbia?

Cory Boyd:  The best place to get a bite have to be Lizard’s Thicket.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What was your favorite college course and why?

Cory Boyd:  Social Work was my favorite because that class always touched on events that happen on our campus

TheFootballExpert.com:  Any pregame rituals?  Food?  Music?

Cory Boyd:  I have one thing that I started and that was me going out to the field early enough to run up both sideline once and then run down the middle. Finally  once I reach the end zone I get a quick prayer and I’m done

TheFootballExpert.com:  What is something football fans may not know about you?

Cory Boyd:  That I love to sing.

TheFootballExpert.com:  Do you read mock drafts or listen to what draft experts have to say?

Cory Boyd:  No.

TheFootballExpert.com:  What was the last good movie you saw?

Cory Boyd:   I am Legend

TheFootballExpert.com:  What do you plan to do once your playing career is over?

Cory Boyd:  Start a youth center in my hometown.
