|
This is a full 7 round mock draft with analysis of every pick. Of
course there will be more picks once Compensatory picks are
announced. That is why I included my top 30 remaining players who
are likely to get drafted. I hope you enjoy this and please send
me any comment. I may not respond to all but I enjoy reading them.
1. Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell 6’6 258 4.83 LSU
Andrew Walter is horrible, so Russell makes sense here. If Randy
Moss is traded I could see them possibly going after Calvin Johnson.
2. Lions QB Brady Quinn 6’4 232 Notre Dame
The Lions seem to think George Foster can start opposite Jeff
Backus…huge mistake there in my opinion. Kitna has 1 good year
left in him as a starter and Josh McCown has never really lived up to
his potential. Plus Quinn seems to be rising exponentially now after
his brief fall.
3. Browns RB Adrian Peterson 6’2 217 4.40 Oklahoma
I personally would go with Calvin Johnson here, him along side Braylon
Edwards would be scaaaaaaary, but with them only signing Jamal Lewis to
a 1 year contract they will probably draft Peterson.
4. Buccs WR Calvin Johnson 6’5 239 4.35 Georgia Tech
The Best player in this draft beyond a doubt, but with the top two
teams leaning towards QB, and the Browns drafting AP, the Buccs get the
biggest steal of the drat in Johnson. The Buccs could have a killer
three WR set with Galloway moving to the slot and Clayton coming back
healthy. The Buccs will have two starting WR’s with 4.3 speed.
5. Cardinals T Joe Thomas 6’7 311 4.92 Wisconsin
The best and most complete tackle to come out since Robert Gallery, of
course, Gallery has proceeded to be one of the biggest busts in recent
draft history. With the loss of Leonard Davis, the Cards needed a
new starting tackle, what they found was a player who may actually be
better than Davis right now.
6. Redskins DE Gaines Adams 6’5 261 4.64 Clemson
The best pass rusher in this draft. He fills a major need for the
Washington Redskins. Their Defensive Ends are getting very old,
and Andre Carter is an injury waiting to happen. Adams should be
a force from the start.
7. Vikings WR Dwayne Bowe 6’2 221 4.45 LSU
I am going to get ripped on this pick, but I believe with Bowe running
in the 4.4’s that he is the second best receiver in this draft.
They already got burned with a one dimensional receiver in Williamson
which is why they bypass Ted Ginn. Bowe is the complete package
at receiver. They could trade down a few spots and get him as
well.
8. Falcons S Laron Landry 6’1 213 4.35 LSU
One of the top 5 players in this year’s draft, but he falls due to the
position he plays. He will start instantly for the Falcons
9. Dolphins T Levi Brown 6’6 323 5.39 Penn St.
Levi Brown and Vernon Carey sound like a great duo. They could
protect whoever the Dolphins’ QB is this year. Brown should
compete with L.J. Shelton and Anthony Alabi this year.
10. Texans DT Amobe Okoye 6’2 302 4.97
Louisville
A player that has shot up draft boards. Travis Johnson has been a bust
and the rest of the decent DT’s are well into their thirties.
Okoye is very young and will only continue to get better and stronger.
11. 49ers WR Robert Meachem 6’2 214 4.39 Tennessee
Meachem is the whole package, he just falls short in experience and
consistency that Bowe has. Meachem could team with Ashley Lelie
to give Alex Smith dangerous targets that he has never had in San
Francisco.
12. Bills RB Marshawn Lynch 5’11 218 4.46 California
With the loss of Willis McGahee in the trade to Baltimore the Bills are
thin at Running Back. Anthony Thomas is not a starter in this
league anymore, so taking Lynch here is the best thing they could do.
13. Rams DT Alan Branch 6’6 324 5.08 Michigan
Alan Branch has dropped a bit in the past week. The rams couldn’t
be happier that he did. Jimmy Kennedy has been a bust and La’Roi
Glover is old, so drafting Branch here is a no brainer.
14. Panthers DE Jamaal Anderson 6’5 284 4.77 Arkansas
The Panthers get amazing value here where most people consider Anderson
a top 10 pick. He very well could be, but the way this draft
shook out he fell right into Carolina’s lap. He should supplant
Mike Rucker immediately.
15. Steelers OLB Lawrence Timmons 6’1 234 4.59
Florida St.
With Mike Tomlin possibly switching over to the 4-3 defense the
Steelers need linebackers to fit that scheme. Timmons is the best
one available.
16. Packers TE Greg Olson 6’6 255 4.51 Miami
The Packers desperately need a RB but none is worthy of this
pick. Bubba Franks is fading and there is no one else on the
roster that is a threat at the position. Olson should stretch the
middle of the field for Favre, something he has not had for a long time
out of his TE’s.
17. Jaguars WR Ted Ginn 5’11 178 Ohio St.
The Jaguars are thin at WR and the guys they do have are more
possession receivers. Ginn should help open up the underneath
routes for Jones,Wilford, and Williams.
18. Bengals CB Leon Hall 5’11 193 4.39 Michigan
If the Bills would not have traded away McGahee I think they would have
taken Hall at 12, but that is not the case and the Bengals reap all of
the benefits. He should take away a starting job from Deltha
O’Neal, and O’Neal will have to compete with last year’s first rounder
Jonathan Joseph. Either way the Corners on the Bengals should be
very tough next year.
19. Titans WR Dwayne Jarrett 6’4 219 USC
The Titans have some decent young receivers, but losing Drew Bennett
hurts. Replacing him with Jarrett is a good way to start easing
the pain.
20. Giants CB Chris Houston 5’10 185 4.32 Arkansas
A workout warrior who should start for the Giants from day one.
He is a great man-to-man cover corner.
21. Broncos DE Adam Carriker 6’6 291 4.82 Nebraska
The Broncos are ecstatic that Carriker fell this far. On first
and second down he could play the strong side end, and then on passing
downs he could move inside to DT. It is the perfect fit for the
Broncos defense.
22. Cowboys DE Justin Harrell 6’4 300 5.10 Tennessee
The Cowboys could have taken a WR or S Reggie Nelson, but I think they
will sign Ken Hamlin. Marcus Spears has not lived up to his
potential, so the Cowboys take a chance on Harrell.
23. Chiefs WR Sidney Rice 6’4 200 4.52 South Carolina
Some have him falling out of the first round completely but I do not
see it happening, especially with the Chiefs desperate for WR
help. He should start over Sammie Parker.
24. Patriots(Sea) ILB Patrick Willis 6’1 242 4.51
Mississippi
The Patriots ILB’s are aging and Willis is the best one in this year’s
draft. It is a perfect fit that will make the Patriots even more
dangerous this year.
25. Jets CB Darrelle Revis 6’0 204 4.40 Pittsburgh
Revis worked out very well so he could go higher than this, but as of
now this is the Jet’s biggest need. He will start right away.
26. Eagles S Reggie Nelson 5’11 198 4.35 Florida
Reggie had a great pro day and could go a lot higher than this.
He will team with Brian Dawkins to form one of the best Safety duos in
the NFL.
27. Saints CB Aaron Ross 6’1 193 4.50 Texas
Fred Thomas was awful last year and help is needed. Ross does not
have elite speed for a corner, but has great skills and should be an
immediate upgrade over Thomas.
28. Patriots S Michael Griffin 6’0 202 4.45 Texas
Griffin could team with Eugene Wilson to form a ball-hawking secondary.
29. Ravens C Ryan Kalil 6’3 299 4.96 USC
Mike Flynn is a decent starter but he is aging and Kalil is the best
Center in the draft. The Ravens can afford to take the best
player available right here. He should be a starter for 10+ years.
30. Chargers S Brandon Merriweather 5’11 195 4.47
Miami
Marlon McCree is the only decent safety on the Chargers, this pick was
more important than a WR because Merriweather has a chance to be great.
31. Bears OLB Jon Beason 6’0 234 4.72 Miami
With the uncertainty of Lance Briggs drafting Jon Beason is a good
insurance policy.
32. Colts DT Brandon Mebane 6’1 309 5.16 California
The Colts run defense was awful during the regular season but redeemed
itself on its way to a Super Bowl championship. Mebane should
start along side Booger McFarland to form a solid run stuffing duo.
33. Raiders T Joe Staley 6’6 306 Central Michigan
Joe Staley should probably go higher than this come April, but getting
him here would be a steal for the Raiders. If Gallery ever plays
up to his potential they could form a solid duo for 10 years. If
Gallery fails to perform again this year I think the Raiders should
give Paul McQuistain a chance at RT, plus they have a solid vet
in Barry Sims.
34. Lions CB Marcus McCauley 6’1 203 4.39 Fresno St.
Travis Fisher is serviceable at best next to Fernando Bryant, McCauley
is one of the best pure athletes in this draft and could easily beat
out fisher for the #2 CB role. At worst he would be the dime back
in the defense.
35. Buccs DE Jarvis Moss 6’7 258 4.77 Florida
Jarvis Moss may be kind of immature which may hurt his draft
stock. He is as athletic of any DE that you will find throughout
this draft. He is an excellent kick blocker, and should
eventually take over for Simeon Rice.
36. Browns CB Daymeion Hughes 5’11 190 4.57 California
He has a slow 40 time for a cornerback but he plays a lot faster on
game day. A lot of people are down on him because of his timed
speed, and the Browns are reaping all of the benefits. Should
start out as a nickel or dime back, but with Gary Baxter hardly ever
healthy he could play a lot more.
37. Bears(WshNYJ) G Ben Grubbs 6’3 311 5.10 Auburn
The Bears have very little depth at G and Grubbs could compete with
Garza and Metcalf for a starting job.
38. Cardinals DE Charles Johnson 6’2 270 4.84 Georgia
Johnson could go higher than this, but he fell in my mock draft.
The Cardinals have very little depth at the position and both their
starters are 31+. Good value for the Cardinals here.
39. Falcons(Hou) T Tony Ugoh 6’5 301 5.06 Arkansas
Pick acquired for Matt Schaub. A very athletic T who has
potential to be good, he just hasn’t reached it. This is a solid
pick here as some drafts have Ugoh having first round potential. Wayne
Gandy is 36 and they need some fresh blood.
40. Dolphins WR Steve Smith 6’0 197 4.44 USC
Smith adds solid speed and solid hands to the Dolphins receiving
corps. He should fill Wes Welker’s shoes with flying colors.
41. Vikings TE Zach Miller 6’5 256 4.74 Arizona St.
Miller helped himself with a better 40 time but not enough to get him
back in the 1st round. I do not know what the Vikings were
thinking when they ponied up all of that dough to Shiancoe.
Miller is cleary better than anyone on that team right now. I say
that because Kleinsasser is getting older and is injury prone and is
more of an H-Back.
42. 49ers OLB Anthony Spencer 6’3 265 4.70 Purdue
Anthony Spencer should have gone earlier than this, but the Niners are
glad he is still here. He could compete with Tully Banta-Cain for
the OLB opposite last year’s first rounder Manny Lawson.
43. Bills MLB Brandon Siler 6’2 241 4.67 Florida
With the loss of London Fletcher this becomes a big need. Siler
is young but should develop into a starting caliber MLB in the NFL.
44. Falcons G Arron Sears 6’3 319 Tennessee
A tackle/guard tweener who I see getting his shot at guard with the
Falcons. He could come in right away and compete for the job
opposite Kynan Forney.
45. Panthers S Eric Weddle 5’11 203 4.48 Utah
All the Panthers have at safety is Mike Minter who is 33 years
old. Weddle is a jack of all trades and should be a solid safety
in the NFL.
46. Steelers DE Tim Crowder 6’4 272 4.69 Texas
Crowder is also a good fit for the 4-3 scheme as a rush end, and even
if they do play a little 3-4 Crowder has the speed to stand up as a
rush linebacker.
47. Packers S Tanard Jackson 6’0 200 4.52 Syracuse
Nick Collins is a stud, but Marquand Manuel did not perform up to
expectations last year. Jackson should come in and compete with
Manuel for a starting job. Tanard Jackson can also play CB in a
pinch. I thought RB right away here, but Defense wins
championships.
48. Jaguars S Aaron Rouse 6’4 223 4.52 Virginia Tech
A huge safety with speed. With Darius aging and Sensabaugh having legal
troubles Rouse is a need at this point in the draft.
49. Bengals G Justin Blalock 6’3 320 5.10 Texas
Blalock was once considered first round talent, so this is good value
here. He could start right away replacing the departed Eric
Steinbach.
50. Titans RB Brian Leonard 6’2 226 4.52 Rutgers
Leonard will compete with LenDale White and at the very least could be
the Titans 3rd down back. I for one believe Leonard could handle
a full load at RB.
51. Giants OLB Paul Poluszny 6’2 238 4.65 Penn St.
Considered the top senior prospect at his position at the beginning of
the year. The Giants fill a need here and get a special player
with great character. He is the complete opposite of LaVar
Arringoton.
52. Rams OLB Tim Shaw 6’2 236 4.51 Penn St.
Two Penn St. Linebackers back-to-back. Most people talk about
Poluszny, and rightfully so, but Shaw has quietly crept up draft boards
after posting that great 40 time.
53. Cowboys WR Anthony Gonzalez 6’0 195 4.44 Ohio St.
Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, and even Patrick Crayton are not
young. Gonzalez has first round talent, but there are so many top
WR’s in this draft that he slips to the Cowboys here.
54. Chiefs DT Marcus Thomas 6’3 314 Florida
Thomas could take a couple years before he becomes starting material,
but that is ok. The Chiefs have signed Alfonso Boone and
re-signed Ron Edwards. He is too good of a talent to pass up here.
55. Seahawks DT Quinn Pitcock 6’3 299 4.93 Ohio St.
The best player available even though it is not an immediate need for
the Seahawks. The Seahawks have no immediate needs so they can
avoid taking the BPA.
56. Broncos S John Wendling 6’1 222 4.48 Wyoming
John Lynch is still playing at a high level, but he can’t have more
than a year or two left in him. Who better to learn from than
Lynch. Wendling has the size of a linebacker with the speed of a
cornerback.
57. Eagles MLB David Harris 6’2 243 4.57 Michigan
Ryan Fowler left them at the alter, so getting Harris here is a big
need for the Eagles.
58. Saints WR Craig Davis 6’1 207 4.42 LSU
A local product. They need to replace the spot left from Joe
Horn. Henderson and Colston should start next year and Davis
should compete with Copper for the #3.
59. Jets DE Ray McDonald 6’3 282 4.88 Florida
Could be a very good 3-4 DE for the Jets.
60. Dolphins(NE) CB Eric Wright 5’11 192 4.36 UNLV
Wright had great workouts and should have a chance to compete with
Travis Daniels for the starting spot opposite Will Allen.
61. Ravens T Ryan Harris 6’5 305 5.09 Notre Dame
Harris is the 4th best tackle in the draft. Some question his
size and strength, but his play on the field speaks for itself.
Jonathan Ogden is getting up there in age, and they lost Tony Pashos to
free agency.
62. Chargers WR Jason Hill 6’1 204 4.32 Washington St.
The Chargers wait to get a WR in the second round and get a fast riser
in Jason Hill. Before the combine everyone thought he was a
possession receiver but his 4.32 states otherwise.
63. Jets(Chi) OLB Lamarr Woodley 6’2 266 Michigan
He could team with Bryan Thomas to form a very scary duo of Rush OLBs.
64. Buccs(Ind) CB Jonathan Wade 5’10 190 4.36
Tennessee
A speedy Cornerback that could be a very solid nickel cornerback right
away. Juran Bolden, Ronde Barber, and Brian Kelly are all over
the age of thirty, and Phillip Buchanon is a bust.
65. Raiders WR Aundrae Allison 6’1 192 4.39 East
Carolina
With the futures of Jerry Porter and Randy Moss unknown the Raiders
need to add some depth at WR. Besides the fore-mentioned players
Ronald Curry is the only proven WR on the team.
66. Lions MLB H.B. Blades 5’11 236 4.75 Pittsburgh
It would be fitting to see H.B. get drafted by the Lions, because his
father Bennie played for them. He would be more than a feel good
story though, he would be a fantastic addition to the special teams,
and could start in a pinch.
67. Browns DE Kareem Brown 6’4 290 5.40 Miami
He has a slow 40 time, but he will be player the in the 3-4 scheme at
DE. His main goal will be to take up blockers and stuff the
run. The Browns have a lot of players at the position but not one
really stands out.
68. Buccs DT Tank Tyler 6’2 306 5.03 North Carolina
St.
Great Value here in the third round for Tyler. Some people have
him going first round but I just do not see it. The Buccs have
very little to speak of at DT so he should be an upgrade over most of
the other DT’s on the team.
69. Cardinals CB David Irons 5’10 190 4.44 Auburn
Although they just signed Roderick Hood, I still think they need some
depth behind the rest of the CB’s. Antrel Rolle is decent, but David
Macklin is average and Eric Green is still learning, although Green is
a favorite of mine.
70. Broncos(Wsh) RB Antonio Pittman 5’11 210 4.40
Ohio St.
The Broncos signed Travis Henry and have Mike Bell, but neither has
breakaway speed. Pittman could be a great change-of-pace back to
Henry and is the best player available here for the Broncos.
71. Dolphins RB Tony Hunt 6’2 233 Penn St.
A very good running back that runs with authority Hunt fills the spot
left by Sammy Morris.
72. Vikings QB Trent Edwards 6’4 231 4.76 Stanford
I am not sold on Tavaris Jackson, but some think the Vikings are.
If Edwards is here during the draft the Vikings would be stupid not to
take him. Henson stinks, and Bollinger is nothing more than a
decent backup option.
73. Texans CB Josh Wilson 5’9 189 4.39 Maryland
The Texans have very little at CB besides Dunta Robinson. Wilson
should come and be decent nickel back, he may even be able to compete
for the job opposite Robinson.
74. Bills DT Antonio Johnson 6’3 310 5.21 Mississippi
St.
A depth pick here. Tripplett is solid, but I am still not sold on
McCargo.
75. Falcons DE Victor Abiamiri 6’4 267 4.80 Notre Dame
With the loss of Patrick Kerney the Falcons needed to recoup some of
their pass rush. They have literally nothing besides John Abraham and
he is never healthy.
76. 49ers T Doug Free 6’6 324 5.28 Northern Illinois
Kwame Harris flat out stinks, the Niners need to bring in some
competition to motivate him to use the talents he has.
77. Steelers RB Michael Bush 6’1 243 Louisville
Najeh Davenport is solid as a backup, but Michael Bush is too good to
pass up. He could be the feature back if anything were to happen
to Willie Parker. He will be the new “Bus” in Pittsburgh.
78. Packers RB Kenny Irons 5’11 203 4.45 Auburn
The Packers finally get their RB. Irons is small but he plays a
lot bigger and should compete for the starting job with Vernand Morency.
79. Jaguars CB Fred Bennett 6’1 196 4.46 South
Carolina
The starters are set for the Jags but depth is needed after them.
80. Titans DE Quentin Moses 6’5 261 4.85 Georgia
Coming into his senior season Moses was the top rated DE in the
country. How the mighty has fallen. I still believe he can become
a solid player in the pros. The Titans should be giddy with this
pick.
81. Giants K Mason Crosby 6’1 212 Colorado
With Jay Feeley not re-sigining Crosby falls to the Giants here.
Most people consider him one of the best kicking prospects in a long
time, but it did not hurt that he kicked in the thin air of Colorado.
82. Rams MLB Buster Davis 5’9 239 4.69 Florida St.
Another solid pick for the Rams. He should provide depth as well
as being a special teamer. Also, if one of the Rams OLB gets
injured Will Witherspoon could move over to one of those spots and
Buster could start if need be.
83. Panthers QB Drew Stanton 6’3 226 Michigan St.
Jake Delhomme is starting to struggle and is also aging. All that
is behind him is Brett Basanez so drafting Stanton is the best they
could do at this point.
84. Chiefs T James Marten 6’8 309 5.08 Boston College
Damion McIntosh was a solid addition but most of the Chiefs Tackles are
over 30.
85. Seahawks S Michael Johnson 6’3 205 4.54 Arizona
The Seahawks signed Brian Russell, but I do not see him being the
answer for replacing Ken Hamlin.
86. Broncos T Marshall Yanda 6’4 307 Iowa
Matt Lepsis is recovering from surgery on his knee and the Broncos
shipped out the worthless George Foster. Erik Pears should be the
starter at RT, but even if Lepsis comes back healthy they need a
successor to him. Mel Kiper once had Yanda listed as one of his top
prospects, so he is definitely good value here.
87. Cowboys S Josh Gattis 6’1 206 4.55 Wake Forest
They don’t take a safety in the first but, rather, settle for a depth
player like Gattis now.
88. Saints OLB Rufus Alexander 6’0 232 4.71 Oklahoma
Fujita is solid, Shanle is serviceable, and Simmons is old. They
need an infusion of young talent.
89. Jets OLB Stewart Bradley 6’4 258 4.78 Nebraska
Bradley could play ILB in the 3-4 defense.
90. Eagles CB A.J. Davis 5’10 193 North Carolina St.
The Eagles have no depth behind their starters. Losing Roderick
Hood hurts but A.J. Davis will take over the nickel slot with no
trouble at all.
91. Patriots CB Travarous Bain 6’0 182 4.43 Hampton
The Patriots have to prepare for the possible loss of Asante Samuel,
and even if he stays getting a player of Bain’s caliber is worth this
pick.
92. Bills(Bal) G Manuel Ramirez 6’3 326 Texas Tech
Signing Derrick Dockery was a great move, but Villarial is getting old
and should only last a couple more years. Ramirez could learn
under him until then.
93. Chargers MLB Anthony Waters 6’3 245 Clemson
Losing Randall Godfrey and Donnie Edwards have left the Chargers thin
at ILB, Waters is a big Linebacker who should replace Godfrey
admirably, or at the least provide depth.
94. Bears S Sabby Piscatelli 6’3 224 4.45 Oregon St.
With the trade for Adam Archuleta this pick probably seems like
overkill, but Mike Brown is injury prone and is pushing thirty.
Piscatelli could also be converted to an OLB if he put on some more
weight. Just another insurance policy for Lance Briggs.
95. Colts CB Kenny Scott 6’1 183 4.39 Georgia Tech
Nick Harper going to the Titans was a slight blow but the Colts have
younger players waiting in the wings and Scott could also compete for
playing time.
96. Raiders TE Scott Chandler 6’7 270 4.78 Georgia
Tech
Chandler is a big rangy TE. It may take him awhile but in a
couple years he could compete for a starting job. Right now he’d
be behind Courtney Anderson on the depth chart. The Raiders
signed two minimal players in Fred Wakefield and Tony Stewart, but I
believe Chandler is better than both.
97. Lions WR Paul Williams 6’1 205 4.45 Fresno St.
The Lions passed up on Calvin Johnson in the first round but get a
solid player here none the less in Williams. He could probably be
the 4th or 5th receiver behind Williams, Furrey, and McDonald.
98. Buccs C Samson Satele 6’3 300 5.25 Hawaii
Satele is probably the best Center in this year’s draft not named
Kalil. The Buccs have John Wade and that is pretty much it at
center. Wade is decent, the problem is he is 32 years old.
I give Satele one year before he is the starter.
99. Browns G Andy Alleman 6’4 305 5.07 Akron
A very agile guard who I believe could play guard or tackle for the
Browns. They already have Steinbach and Andruzzi, but Andruzzi is
31 years old and will not play forever.
100. 49ers(Wsh) DE Ryan McBean 6’5 280 4.98 Oklahoma
St.
McBean is an undersized DT that should switch over to a 3-4 DE for the
49ers. He could be the heir apparent to Byrant Young.
101. Cardinals OLB Earl Everett 6’3 238 4.78 Florida
Everett could compete for the top backup OLB spot and should contribute
on special teams.
102. Vikings DE Ikaika Alama-Francis 6’5 280 Hawaii
A big pass rusher who shouldn’t have to work too hard to surpass Kenech
Udeze’s unimpressive total of 0 sacks in 2006.
103. Texans WR Johnnie Lee Higgins 5’11 186 4.48 UTEP
I am surprised they haven’t addressed this need in Free Agency.
Higgins isn’t ready to start but could be a decent slot player.
104. Dolphins C Leroy Harris 6’3 302 5.37 North
Carolina St.
The Dolphins are lacking a true center and Harris is the best one on
the board.
105. Falcons DT Jay Alford 6’3 306 5.20 Penn St.
Their interior defensive line is getting old and Alford would be solid
rotation player. Beyond Babineaux there is little depth behind Jackson
and Coleman.
106. 49ers NT Paul Solial 6’4 338 5.07 Utah
The 49ers signed Aubrayo Franklin but I don’t see him as the stud they
are making him out to be in San Francisco. Solial is huge and
also is quick.
107. Bills OLB Juwan Simpson 6’2 225 4.55 Alabama
With the rumors that Takeo Spikes could be on his way out Buffalo needs
to add depth at the position.
108. Packers CB Ryan Smith 5’11 174 4.51 Florida
Both starting corners are over thirty and the players behind them are
nothing special. Smith could start out as their dime back.
109. Jaguars DE Dan Bazuin 6’3 266 4.77 Central
Michigan
Bazuin is great value here in the 4th round. With Reggie
Hayward’s injury trouble depth is needed. Bobby McCrary performed
surprisingly well last year.
110. Bengals MLB Nate Harris 6’0 230 4.60 Louisville
With the unknown status of Odell Thurman and if David Pollack will ever
play again the Bengals select Harris here. He could play either
LB spot.
111. Titans CB Michael Coe 6’1 196 4.49 Alabama St.
With Pac-Man’s future in doubt adding depth to the CB’s is a smart move.
112. Giants T Brandon Frye 6’4 301 5.08 Virginia Tech
Losing Pettigout and Whitfield leaves the Giants desperately thin at
Tackle.
113. Rams G Josh Beekman 6’2 313 5.39 Boston College
The Rams need depth at G because of the loss of Adam Timmerman.
114. Panthers S Eric Frampton 5’11 204 4.54
Washington St.
Another safety to add depth to Panthers defensive backfield.
115. Steelers CB Anthony Arline 6’2 199 4.43 Baylor
Arline has shot up draft boards after great workouts. He will
provide excellent depth for the Steelers.
116. Seahawks TE Ben Patrick 6’3 252 4.74 Delaware
One of the best small school prospects in this draft. With the
Seahawks missing out on Daniel Graham this pick makes sense.
117. Falcons(Den) MLB Desmond Bishop 6’2 239 4.82
California
Keith Brooking is getting old (31) and there is little depth behind him
worth mentioning. The Falcons get the top inside linebacker on
the board with Bishop.
118. Cowboys ILB Prescott Burgess 6’4 240 4.81
Michigan
Burgess could possibly play either LB position for the Cowboys.
119. Saints(KC) QB Troy Smith 6’0 225 4.74 Ohio St.
Smith has a similar body and arm as Drew Brees and could sit and learn
under him for 3 years before he could be ready to play as a backup.
120. 49ers(NYJ) RB Chris Henry 5’11 230 4.40 Arizona
Chris Henry was the story of this year’s combine. He went from an
undrafted free agent to a 4th round pick. Michael Robinson is
decent as a backup but their isn’t much behind him. Henry has
very big upside.
121. Saints(Phi) S Marvin White 6’1 199 4.53 TCU
The Kaesviharn signing was a good move but he is older and is limited
athletically. They need White for depth and athletic ability.
122. Saints DE Jay Moore 6’5 274 4.85 Nebraska
Charles Grant could be gone next year so depth is needed on the
defensive front.
123. Patriots S Daren Stone 6’3 218 4.60 Maine
He could force Tebucky Jones, and maybe Rodney Harrison out of a roster
spot. This may seem high for him but the Patriots always seem to
find diamonds in the rough.
124. Titans(Bal) DT Derek Landri 6’3 288 Notre Dame
A depth pick, who knows when Haynesworth is going to freak out again
and “Bust some Skulls” as the principle in the Breakfast Club says.
125. Chargers OLB Brian Robison 6’3 259 4.67 Texas
The is a case of the best player available. Robinson impressed a
lot of people at the combine. He will backup Merriman and
Phillips, and with their prior suspensions and injury trouble Robinson
is great insurance.
126. Bears CB Tony Franklin 5’10 184 Virginia
The Bears only have 5 Corners on their roster and they need someone to
come in and compete with those guys.
127. Colts OLB Justin Durant 6’1 230 4.51 Hampton
Durant could make the Colts totally forget about losing Cato June to
the Buccs. He may not start but he will be given a shot at doing
the job.
128. Raiders G Tim Duckworth 6’3 306 5.40 Auburn
The Raiders have very little depth at guard and Duckworth should
compete for backup role.
129. Lions DE Baraka Atkins 6’5 271 4.69 Miami
A steal here for the Lions. Atkins will add solid depth behind Edwards
and newly signed Dwayne White.
130. Browns T Mike Otto 6’5 308 5.25 Purdue
Another O-line prospect to build upon. Truly a depth pick at
tackle, but it could payoff as Ryan Tucker is also 31 years old.
131. Buccs G Corey Hilliard 6’4 308 5.42 Oklahoma St.
Again the Buccs are very thin on the O-line and this is a solid depth
pick.
132. Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb 6’3 218 4.85 Houston
The loss of John Navarre to the Colts leave the Cardinals with no young
backup to groom behind the aging Kurt Warner, and the young emerging
star Leinart. Shane Boyd is there but he is nothing
special. Kolb should be a career backup.
133. Redskins MLB Jon Abbate 5’10 231 5.04 Wake Forest
Abbate is in the same mold as London Fletcher, their newly signed
MLB. He may have a slow 40 time, but I believe he could be solid
in the Redskins defense.
134. Texans C Dustin Fry 6’3 314 5.19 Clemson
Fry could play G or C for the Texans and could be a valuable reserve.
135. Lions(Mia) G Mansfield Wrotto 6’3 317 5.37
Georgia Tech
A developmental project here, but it is worth the chance. He
played most of his career on the defensive side and could be a couple
years away from being able to contribute.
136. Vikings WR David Clowney 6’0 188 4.36 Virginia
Tech
Yes, another WR. When your top receiver is Bobby Wade you know
you need some more depth.
137. 49ers C Dan Mozes 6’3 295 5.36 West Virginia
The 49ers have little to no depth at center, Mozes should be a solid
backup.
138. Rams(Buf) DE Claude McBride 6’2 277 4.81
Tennessee
This pick is for depth on the defensive line. The starters are
set with James Hall and Leonard Little.
139. Falcons T Chris Deman 6’7 315 5.50 Fresno St.
The Falcons starting Tackles are old Gandy (36), Weiner (31), so they
need to start grooming some tackles to take over SOON!
140. Jaguars TE Clark Harris 6’6 256 4.79 Rutgers
He should help ease the loss of Kyle Brady to the Patriots. He
should stick behind Wrighster and Lewis.
141. Bengals TE Joe Newton 6’6 257 4.76 Oregon St.
The Bengals do not have much talent at TE, so Newton has a great shot
to make an impact for them.
142. Titans MLB Tony Taylor 6’1 236 4.95 Georgia
The Titans just got Fowler but Taylor is originally an OLB for The
bulldogs. I believe he is too slow to play there permannently
which is why I have him as a MLB. He could play there in a pinch,
though, which increases his value here.
143. Giants S J.D. Nelson 5’11 207 4.87 Oregon
The Giants are thin at the safety position. Nelson plays faster
than his timed speed would indicate.
144. Lions(Stl) S Brandon Sharp 5’10 194 Louisville
Should compete for a backup safety spot with Etric Pruitt.
145. Panthers MLB Zak DeOssie 6’5 250 4.58 Brown
An amazing athlete for his size. The way the Panthers struggle
with Dan Morgan’s health they should sleep better knowing they have
this guy on board.
146. Steelers G Nathan Bennett 6’4 316 5.48 Clemson
Bennett is another depth pick in case something happens with Alan
Faneca.
147. Packers WR Rhema McKnight 6’1 211 4.55 Notre Dame
This is depth pick for the Packers. Donald Driver and Greg
Jennings are solid, but behind them there is not much.
148. Lions(Den) OLB Antwan Barnes 6’1 240 4.43
Florida International
Another great value here for the Lions. Barnes’ stock has soared
ever since he ran his 4.43 40-time. Again this is an example of
the best player available.
149. Cowboys RB Brandon Jackson 5’10 211 4.51 Nebraska
If Brandon Jackson had waited until next year to come out he could have
possibly been a first round pick. I’ve heard rumors that Julius
Jones could be moved, so drafting Jackson here is great insurance.
150. Chiefs QB Matt Moore 6’3 192 4.92 Oregon St.
I’m not sold on Bradie Croyle but the Chiefs seem to be, either way
Green may be on his way out and another young QB is needed.
151. Seahawks DE Mkristo Bruce 6’6 268 5.00
Washington St.
They signed Kerney but depth is needed.
152. Eagles WR Chansi Stuckey 5’11 191 4.51 Clemson
Picking up Kevin Curtis was a step in the right direction but depth is
still needed.
153. Saints DT David Patterson 6’2 294 5.14 Ohio St.
The best player available for a need area and it is a good depth
move.
154. Jets TE Matt Spaeth 6’7 270 Minnesota
The Jets have no depth behind Chris Baker.
155. Raiders(NE) DE Chase Pittman 6’4 270 5.05 LSU
The Raiders have very few established DE’s behind Brayton and
Burgess. Lance Johnstone is also 33 years old. They need an
infusion of talent and youth in the position.
156. Ravens OLB Rory Johnson 6’0 232 4.59 Mississippi
With the loss of Adalius Thomas the Ravens need another OLB to compete
for playing time and depth.
157. Chargers NT Louis Leonard 6’4 320 Fresno St.
Jamal Williams is getting up there in age, and it never hurts to have a
surplus of big defensive linemen.
158. Bears RB Lorenzo Booker 5’10 191 4.46 Florida St.
With the loss of Thomas Jones the Bears need another RB to take his
place. Booker will be the #3 Running back and could be the third
down back.
159. Colts MLB Justin Warren 6’2 236 4.90 Texas
A&M
Brackett is a good MLB but Rob Morris has to go, he is aging and is as
slow as molasses. Warren is no speed demon but he should be able
to give Morris a run for his money.
160. Raiders OLB Quincy Black 6’2 240 4.42 New Mexico
Quincy Black is purely taken here because he is the best player
available. A linebacker with 4.42 speed is too much for Al Davis
to pass up. He could be a special teams demon, or maybe get a
year on the practice squad. He could force Robert Thomas out of a
roster spot.
161. Broncos(Det) DT Walter Thomas 6’4 370 North
Mississippi CC
Thomas is a monster of a man. He is exactly what Jim Bates likes
in his DT’s. If Dan Wilkinson doesn’t come aboard, this pick will
become even more important.
162. Jets(TB) G Mike Jones 6’5 309 5.43 Iowa
Depth is sorely needed on the offensive line at the guard position.
163. Browns OLB Justin Hickmon 6’1 254 4.75 UCLA
Another piece to add to their 3-4 defense. He will face plenty of
competition for a roster spot and may be headed to the practice squad
his first year.
164. Redskins DT Joe Cohen 6’3 315 5.11 Florida
Cohen has impressed scouts is very good value here for the
Redskins. He could very well go a lot earlier. His size to
speed ratio is very impressive. Definitely a best player
available pick.
165. Patriots(Az) C Kyle Young 6’5 351 5.61 Fresno St.
The Patriots seem to like Fresno St. players and depth is needed behind
Dan Koppen.
166. Dolphins TE Martrez Milner 6’4 252 4.79 Georgia
Milner was the best player available for the Dolphins. A solid
player.
167. Vikings C Doug Datish 6’4 302 5.13 Ohio St.
Matt Birk is getting up there in age. Datish will compete with
Ryan Cook for the backup spot.
168. Texans TE Johnny Harline 6’4 248 4.84 BYU
Mark Bruener is 34 years old and only has about 1 good year left.
Harline could sit on the practice squad for a year and then come on to
backup Daniels and Putzier.
169. Bills CB Dashon Goldson 6’2 202 4.54 Washington
The Bills have no depth at corner and drafting one here is a priority.
170. Falcons RB Deshawn Wynn 5’11 220 4.49 Florida
Warrick Dunn and Jerious Norwood are both small speedy running
backs. Wynn brings size and power and also very surprising
speed. He could surprise people and be one of the steals of the
second day.
171. 49ers WR Mike Walker 6’2 209 4.35 Central
Florida
Speaking of steals; this guy looks to be one. He is following the
same path as another UCF WR Brandon Marshall who surprised a lot of
Denver Broncos fans last year.
172. Bengals S Brandon Harrison 6’2 227 Stanford
Adds much needed depth to the defensive backfield for the Bengals
173. Titans RB Darius Walker 5’10 206 4.55 Notre Dame
A depth pick, With Leonard and LenDale White a smaller back like Walker
makes sense to change up their backfield.
174. Giants DT Matt Toenaina 6’2 307 5.13 Oregon
Adds depth behind Fred Robbins. Toenaina should make the team.
175. Rams CB C.J. Wilson 6’1 196 4.54 Baylor
The Rams need corner depth desperately, especially after losing Travis
Fischer to the Lions.
176. Panthers TE Kevin Boss 6’7 252 4.71 Western
Oregon
The Panthers can never seem to find a TE, and this year it is no
different. Boss is a project with upside but he will not give
immediate relief to their problems.
177. Steelers WR Courtney Taylor 6’2 204 4.50 Auburn
The Steelers have very few holes so this is a best player available
pick.
178. Packers FB Leron McClain 6’0 256 4.88 Alabama
The Packers let William Henderson go and all they have left is a
converted RB in Brandon Miree who did not make it on the Broncos roster.
179. Jaguars QB Tyler Palko 6’1 215 4.83 Pittsburgh
A developmental QB. I do not see both Garard and Leftwich staying past
the 2007 season with each other, thus the Jaguars will need a young
backup to groom.
180. Chiefs(Dal) OLB Kamichael Hall 6’0 220 4.67
Georgia Tech
Purley a special teams pick here if he makes the team.
181. Chiefs WR Dallas Baker 6’3 202 4.65 Florida
Another big receiver for the Chiefs, played a surprisingly well last
year for the champion Gators.
182. Seahawks G Kasey Studdard 6’3 303 5.18 Texas
The Seahawks need players at G, and Kasey Studdard is a great value
here for them.
183. Dolphins(Den) MLB Kelvin Smith 6’2 240 4.85
Syracuse
This pick could come back to Denver is “Big Daddy” Wilkinson decides to
not report. Smith will provide good depth in the middle of the
Dolphins defense.
184. Saints T Adam Koets 6’5 298 5.08 Oregon St.
Decent player who more than likely will benefit with a year on the
practice squad.
185. Cowboys(NYJ) DT Keith Jackson 6’0 305 4.85
Arkansas
The son of TE Keith Jackson formerly of the Eagles, Dolphins, and
Packers. He could add a little weight and be the heir apparent
for Jason Ferguson.
186. Eagles RB Dwayne Wright 6’0 228 4.66 Fresno St.
Correll Buckhalter was healthy for entire year but do not count on it
happening two years in a row.
187. Patriots G Dan Santucci 6’4 301 5.13 Notre Dame
A practice squad player for the Patriots.
188. Ravens DE Noland Burchette 6’2 259 5.10 Virginia
Tech
The Ravens are short on depth at DE, Burchette could come in and back
up Terrell Suggs.
189. Titans(SD) T Allen Barbre 6’4 300 4.84 Missouri
Southern
Great agility and 40 time for Barbre brought him out from the obscurity
of Missouri Southern. He could play T or G which makes him very
valuable here.
190. Redskins(Chi) WR Joel Filani 6’1 211 4.55 Texas
Tech
This pick was acquired for Adam Archuleta. Filani is a different
type of receiver than those that the Redskins have right now. He
is a thicker receiver rather than the runt sized receivers they have
now.
191. Titans(Ind) G Steve Vallos 6’3 300 Wake Forest
Another pick to help add depth to the offensive line.
192. Raiders C Enoka Lucas 6’3 303 5.43 Oregon
Jake Grove is the starter, and they signed Jeremy Newberry, but there
is no guarantee that Newberry is going to stay healthy the entire year.
193. Cowboys(DetNYJ) CB C.J. Gaddis 6’0 203 4.45
Gaddis will probably be a special teamer if he makes the team.
More than likely will be a practice squad player.
194. Browns FB Cory Anderson 6’2 247 4.70 Tennessee
The Browns cut Terrelle Smith and there is only one other fullback on
the roster, plus it doesn’t hurt that Anderson is arguably the best
fullback in the draft.
195. Buccs S Tra Battle 5’11 176 Georgia
Battle is more of finesse safety and will compete for a backup FS
role. He is more of a practice squad guy.
196. Cardinals MLB Patrick Lowery 6’1 242 North
Carolina St.
The Cardinals have decent MLB’s but Darling is getting very old and
Monty Beisel is average at best. Lowery will more than likely sit
on the practice squad for a year or 2.
197. Redskins CB Reggie Lewis 5’10 204 4.59 Florida
A depth pick here. He could stick as a 5th corner.
198. Vikings OLB Michael Okwo 5’11 232 4.67 Stanford
The best player available and also fills a backup role.
199. Texans QB Jeff Rowe 6’5 226 4.91 Nevada
Rowe will more than likely be a practice squad player but could compete
with Porter and Van Pelt. I actually think he could beat Van Pelt
out right away. Van Pelt is a horrible QB.
200. Dolphins QB John Beck 6’2 215 4.75 BYU
He will try to catch on as a #3 quarterback.
201. Saints(Atl) WR Jeff Samardzija 6’5 215 Notre Dame
The Saints do not really have any more needs so why not take a chance
on Samardzija. It could pay off like it did for the Texans and
Drew Henson.
202. Bears(SFCle) DT Jeremy Clark 6’3 309 4.98 Alabama
The Bears lost Alfonso Boone to KC and still have not resigned Ian
Scott. This pick is a need for depth purposes.
203. Bills C Drew Mormino 6’3 299 5.38 Central
Michigan
The Bills need a backup center and Mormino is their man.
204. Titans WR Chris Davis 5’10 182 4.50 Florida St.
The best player left on my board, probably will make it to the practice
squad.
205. Giants WR Jacoby Jones 6’3 214 4.50 Lane
A big receiver with speed. He could surprise on the Giants.
206. Rams WR David Ball 6’1 196 New Hampshire
The Rams WR’s are getting old and even though they signed Drew Bennett,
they lost McDonald and Curtis. David Ball has great hands and
should fit in well there.
207. Panthers OLB Steve Nicholas 6’1 232 4.66 South
Florida
Nicholas will try to catch on as a special teamer for the Panthers..
208. Steelers T Stephon Heyer 6’6 334 5.67 Maryland
He should probably be a practice squad player.
209. Packers QB Jordan Palmer 6’6 231 4.98 UTEP
Carson’s little brother has a lot of potential but has not put it
together yet. He should compete with Ingle Martin for the #3 QB
job.
210. Jaguars G Cameron Stephenson 6’3 306 5.42 Rutgers
Another Rutgers player for the Jaguars. There is almost no depth
behind Manuwai and Naeole, I think this guy has a chance to be a solid
guard in the league.
211. Bengals DT Larry Brown 6’3 297 5.20 Oklahoma St.
The Bengals lost Shaun Smith to the Browns so a rejuvenation of depth
is needed. I also think the Bengals will make a run at former
Broncos DT Michael Myers.
212. Chiefs CB DeAndre Jackson 5’11 193 Iowa St.
Law and Surtain are both old and there isn’t much depth behind them.
213. Seahawks FB Jesse Allen 6’0 250 Virginia Tech
A very talented player. The Seahawks should sit him on the
Practice squad for a year and wait for him to take over for Mack Strong.
214. Broncos P Daniel Sepulverda 6’3 229 Baylor
Paul Ernster is one of the worst punters in the NFL. Denver fans
cannot stop whining about the team giving up on Sauerbrun for that
guy. Sepulverda should appease all of those fans. The Broncos
would be very lucky if he is still around at this stage of the draft.
215. Cowboys K Justin Medlock 6’0 201 UCLA
Martin Gramatica kicked admirably last year, but he is not the
answer. Medlock is the second best kicker in this year’s draft.
216. Packers(NYJ) QB/S Jared Zabransky 6’2 219 4.56
Boise St.
The NCAA 2008 cover boy. Was a solid college QB but does not have the
arm strength to succeed there in the NFL. He will probably be
moved to safety or put on the Practice squad to develop at either QB or
S.
217. Eagles QB Chris Leak 6’0 209 4.74 Florida
Feeley is entrenched at the #2 QB but there is no one behind him.
218. Cowboys(NO) T Chase Johnson 6’9 330 5.49 Wyoming
The Cowboys like their lineman BIG, so they draft Johnson in hopes of
stashing him on their practice squad and developing him.
219. Dolphins(NE) DE Jay Richardson 6’6 280 4.92 Ohio
St.
A solid late pick for the Dolphins. He helps replace Kevin Carter
who left for Tampa Bay.
220. Bills(Bal) RB Kolby Smith 5’11 220 4.50
Louisville
Again the Bills have no depth at RB and bringing in another RB could
not hurt.
221. Chargers CB Alan Ball 6’2 183 4.52 Illinois
Ball could compete for the #4 or #5 CB spot, but more than likely will
be a practice squad player.
222. Bears QB/WR Isaiah Stanback 6’2 216 Washington
Stanback will probably play WR for the Bears as well as being an
emergency QB.
223. Colts WR Laurent Robinson 6’2 199 4.38 Illinois
St.
They cut ties with Brandon Stokley and Peyton Manning makes any
receiver look good. Don’t be surprised if Robinson gets plenty of
playing time for the Colts if this works out.
Rookie Free Agents
1. RB Selvin Young 5’11 207 Texas
2. DE C.J. Ah You 6’4 270 4.70 Oklahoma
3. WR Roy Hall 6’2 229 4.42 Ohio St.
4. WR Brandon Myels 6’1 189 4.43 West
Virginia
5. OLB Dallas Sartz 6’5 235 4.69 USC
6. WR Matt Trannon 6’6 216 4.54 Michigan
St.
7. RB Garrett Wolfe 5’8 186 Northern
Illinois
8. RB Ramonce Taylor 5’10 195 4.50 Texas
9. DE Joe Anoai 6’3 280 Georgia Tech
10. WR Steve Breaston 6’0 193 4.46 Michigan
11. C Scott Stephenson 6’3 297 5.20 Iowa St.
12. DT Jordan Hill 6’2 298 5.04 Arizona St.
13. TE Michael Allen 6’7 255 4.71 Whitworth
14. QB Tony Korrodi 6’4 234 Central Missouri St.
15. T Andrew Carnahan 6’7 306 Arizona St.
16. CB Calvin Bannister 5’8 183 4.43 Hampton
17. OLB Funtaine Allen 6’2 230 4.45 Vanderbilt
18. CB Courtney Brown 6’1 200 4.33 Cal Poly Slo
19. DE Greg Peterson 6’5 286 4.73 North Carolina
Central
20. CB Geoff Pope 6’0 183 4.30 Howard
21. CB Joseph Porter 5’10 198 4.33 Rutgers
22. T Gabe Hall 6’4 313 4.91 Texas Tech
23. K John Vaughn Auburn
24. OLB Chad Nkang 6’0 220 4.40 Elon
25. RB Alonzo Coleman 5’10 207 4.49 Hampton
26. S Karidi Dede 5’11 221 4.48 Auburn
27. T Mario Henderson 6’7 302 5.11 Florida St.
28. TE Chad Upshaw 6’4 252 4.71 Buffalo
29. WR Yamon Figurs 5’11 174 4.30 Kansas St.
30. WR Mike Mason 6’0 190 4.34 Tennessee St.
