NFL
Draft
Prospect
Interview: Brian Hernandez, WR, Utah
4/25/08. Brian
Hernandez, receiver from Utah, sat down and talked about the upcoming
NFL
Draft.
What is your accurate
height, weight and forty time?
Brian Hernandez: 5’11
1/8’’, 192, 4.40
Describe your game in
three words or less.
Brian Hernandez: Fun
What do you feel is your
greatest strength as a
football player and what area do you feel you need to improve in?
Brian Hernandez: Speed and
intelligence are strengths. I still
need to get more physical, particularly in blocking.
What NFL player do you
do you think you compare
favorably to?
Brian Hernandez: Steve
Smith (New York Giants)
Who is the best player
you have faced during your
college football career?
Brian Hernandez: Antoine
Cason
What is your greatest
football moment to date?
Brian Hernandez: Beating
BYU in 2005.

Did you have a favorite
pro team growing up?
Favorite player?
Brian Hernandez: 49ers,
Jerry Rice
How instrumental was
your head coach [name inserted]
in your progression?
Brian Hernandez: Not much,
he was a defensive minded coach and did not spend much time with the
offense.
What have former college
teammates now in the NFL told
you about preparing for the league?
Brian Hernandez: They have
said it is a lot more business like, there are a few “special
organizations”
where that team/family element exists, but it is not the case with most
teams. They also said its not college
football, so do not expect it to be like it was at Utah.
When you get your first
professional paycheck what is
the first thing you will buy?
Brian Hernandez: I will
put it in the bank.
How will you be
preparing for the NFL Draft?
Brian Hernandez: Just
working out and staying in shape.

Do you have any goals in
mind when it comes to the NFL
Draft?
Brian Hernandez: Not
really, I just want to end up in a good organization and have a fair
shot at
making a team.
What is the one thing
you will most miss at college?
Brian Hernandez: College
football game day atmosphere.
Where is the best place
to get a bite to eat in your Salt Lake City?
Brian Hernandez: Rodizio
Grill, it is good food and its all you can eat.
What was your favorite
college course and why?
Brian Hernandez: Yoga, not
because I am lazy but because it improved my flexibility, kept me
injury free,
and made me a better player.
Any pregame
rituals? Food? Music?
Brian Hernandez: I do not
eat much on game day and I just listen to the music that the team is
listening
to, I do not wear head phones or anything like that.
What is something
football fans may not know about
you?
Brian Hernandez: I am the oldest of six kids.
Do you read mock drafts
or listen to what draft
experts have to say?
Brian Hernandez: Not
really. None of that stuff will matter
after the draft. Everyone is going to
have to earn their spot on a team whether they were drafted or not.
What was the last good
movie you saw?
Brian Hernandez: Twenty One
What do you plan to do
once your playing career is
over?
Brian Hernandez:
If I have
a good enough career, I would probably volunteer my time coaching or
doing
something else that I love. If things do
not go as planned in the NFL then I would do some sort of investment
banking
since my degree was in finance.
Thanks for taking the
time to answer some questions
and good luck!
Brian Hernandez:
Thank
you.
