2012 NFL Combine
NFL Draft Analyst
February 14, 2012
Every year there are players who rise up draft boards because of their performance during the Combine. Having a good Combine not only improves your draft stock but gives you momentum leading into the NFL Draft.
So without further ado, here is a quick list of players who I think could gain the most momentum from having a good Combine.
Most to Gain
Joe Adams, WR, Arkansas
He had a terrific Senior Bowl. He was the best playmaker on the field and he was always a threat with the football in his hands. He has a great opportunity to improve his draft stock at the Combine.
Orson Charles, TE, Georgia
He has decent size and good speed for a receiving TE. I am very interested in seeing what he runs in the 40 at Indianapolis. If he can run a good 40, that will surely improve his draft stock.
Michael Egnew, TE, Missouri
He caught 90 balls during his Junior season, but had a disappointing senior season after Gabbert left for the NFL. However, I still believe he could be valuable to NFL teams in the mid rounds of the draft. If he can run a good 40 time, I believe he will rise up draft boards.
Casey Heyward, CB, Vanderbilt
Heyward is a ballhawk who snagged 4 INTs this season and 6 INTs last season. He is a strong coverage corner who I believe is a strong second round pick.
Harrison Smith, S, Notre Dame
Smith is an underrated prospect at this point. I believe he is a strong 2nd round pick but with a strong combine he could sneak into the 1st round; especially in this safety class.
Players I expect to stand out
Chris Rainey, RB, Florida
Rainey is a small undersized RB but I expect him to put up some crazy numbers at the combine. He is extremely athletic and I expect him to stand out throughout the combine.
Zach Brown, LB, North Carolina
Brown has always been athletic and during the combine, I wouldn't be surprised if he really stood out. He's got the talent and the ability to really shine and if he does, his stock will rise through the roof.
